Refund & Returns Policy
Last updated: June 9, 2026
This Refunds & Returns policy explains how refunds, returns, and cancellations work for purchases made on Baud Runner (the "Site"), a storefront operated by Defensible Logic, Inc. ("we", "us", "our"). Because we sell both digital goods (3D-printable model files and similar downloads) and physical goods (manufactured hardware that we ship), and a single order may contain both, the rules differ by item type. Please read the relevant section below. This policy is part of, and should be read together with, our Terms of Service and Shipping Policy.
1. Digital downloads
Digital goods include 3D-printable model files (STL files) and other digital downloads. Digital files are licensed, not sold — you receive a license to use the file, not ownership of the underlying intellectual property — and they are delivered as secure, tokenized download links. See the License for the terms that govern your use of these files.
1.1 Digital goods are generally non-refundable
Once a digital file has been made available for download or has been accessed, it generally cannot be refunded, because a download cannot be returned and there is no way to revoke a copy that has already been retrieved. By completing a purchase that makes a download available, you acknowledge this. We may grant exceptions at our sole discretion (for example, in the cases described below). Where we do issue a refund for a digital item, we may revoke the associated download grant; revoking a grant disables the tokenized download links for that item.
1.2 Defective, corrupt, or undelivered files
If a digital file you purchased is corrupt, will not open, was the wrong file, or was never made available to you, contact us at support@defensiblelogic.com and we will work to fix it. Our first remedy is normally to repair or re-deliver the file, or to reset or extend your download grant so you can retrieve it. If we cannot deliver a usable file, we may issue a refund at our discretion. Please contact us promptly and include your order reference and a description of the problem.
1.3 Free files
Some files are offered free of charge. There is no payment for a free file, so there is nothing to refund. Free files are provided "AS IS", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, under the terms set out in the License. By downloading, you accept all risk arising from your use — including printing, machining, assembly, and operation of any resulting object — and you are responsible for verifying fitness and safety for your intended use. This same AS-IS, no-warranty posture applies to all digital files, free and paid.
2. Physical goods — returns
Physical goods are manufactured hardware that we ship to you. You may return eligible physical items in accordance with this section.
2.1 Return window and condition
- You may request a return within 30 days of the delivery date.
- Items must be returned in original, resalable condition, unused and in their original packaging unless otherwise stated.
- We do not charge a restocking fee for items returned in original, resalable condition.
- Return shipping is paid by you, except where the return is due to our error or a defective or damaged item (see Section 2.4).
2.2 Non-returnable items
The following are not eligible for return: custom, made-to-order, or configured items, and any item returned used, damaged, or not in its original resalable condition. Digital downloads are also non-returnable, as described in Section 1.
2.3 How to start a return (RMA)
Do not ship an item back to us before contacting us. To start a return, email support@defensiblelogic.com with your order reference and the items you want to return, and follow the instructions we provide: we will issue a return authorization (RMA) number and tell you where to send the item. Unauthorized returns sent without a return authorization may be refused or delayed. Return shipments should be sent to the return address we provide with your RMA using the method we specify.
2.4 Damaged, defective, or wrong items
If your order arrives damaged, is defective, or is not what you ordered, contact us at support@defensiblelogic.com within 7 days of delivery, with your order reference and photos where applicable. We will arrange a replacement, repair, or refund and will cover return shipping in these cases. For packages that arrive lost or damaged in transit, see also our Shipping Policy.
3. How refunds are issued
Returning an item and issuing a refund are handled as separate steps. Receiving an authorized return, or approving a refund, does not by itself guarantee the other; we confirm each in writing.
- Refunds for orders paid through Stripe are issued via Stripe to the original payment method used at checkout. We cannot refund to a different card or account.
- We do not receive, store, or process raw card numbers; payment processing and refunds to your card are handled by Stripe. We store order records, amounts, payment status, and Stripe reference identifiers only.
- For orders we settled off Stripe (for example, by invoice, wire, cash, or consignment), refunds are made by the corresponding method at our discretion.
- Once approved, refunds are typically processed within 5 business days of our receiving and inspecting the return. The time for the refund to appear on your statement depends on your card issuer or bank.
- Any applicable restocking fee or non-refundable shipping cost may be deducted from the refunded amount.
4. Cancelling an order before shipment
If you want to cancel an order, contact us at support@defensiblelogic.com as soon as possible with your order reference. If the physical items have not yet shipped, we will normally cancel the order and refund the affected items via the method described in Section 3. Once an order has shipped, it is handled as a return under Section 2. Note that for any digital items, once a download has been made available or accessed, Section 1 applies and that portion may not be refundable.
5. Chargebacks and disputes
Card payment disputes and chargebacks are handled through Stripe. If you believe there is a problem with a charge, please contact us first at support@defensiblelogic.com so we can try to resolve it directly — this is usually faster than a formal dispute. Filing a chargeback may result in the revocation of digital download grants and licenses associated with the disputed order. Stripe acts as a third-party payment processor; Stripe's handling of payment data is governed by its own terms (see https://stripe.com/privacy) and described further in our Privacy Policy.
6. Contact and governing terms
Questions about a refund, return, or cancellation can be sent to support@defensiblelogic.com. This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state or federal courts located in Wyoming, as set out in our Terms of Service.
